The Darksome Forest is an enchanted place that is home to many magical creatures. In the middle of the Darksome Forest there is an open area where the trees part and the sky takes the stage. It is a hauntingly beautiful place that calls in the sun during the day and the moon at night. The creatures of Darksome Forest call it the Celestial Glade.
The Celestial Glade has many uses but on the last full moon, before All Hallow’s Eve, it is where all the creatures gather to celebrate the upcoming holiday. Everyone has a job that day to prepare for the evening’s festivities. Many of the creatures prepare food, the melody makers figure out what music to play, set up the stage, and spend the day practicing. The mischief makers figure out what games and activities there will be, then the creative makers spend the day making the trinkets that will become the highlight of the festivities. This year they are creating ghosts and ghost fairies.
The prep for the celebration wraps up in the late afternoon and all the creatures begin to gather in the Celestial Glade. Then as the sun sets the festivities begin, there are tables full of food, and there’s music, dancing, games and lots of other fun.
As the moon begins to rise, the creatures all move to the center of the glade where the creative makers set their newly made trinkets in the middle of the dance floor. Everyone watches in anticipation for what is about to happen.
As the moon rises to its peak spot in the sky, the light of the moon beams its magic onto the middle of the dance floor, and a magical shimmering cloud starts to swirl through the trinkets adding its colorful magic and bringing the ghosts and ghost fairies to life.
The creatures all start to cheer with excitement as they watch the handmade trinkets come to life. The creatures invite the ghosts and ghost fairies to join with them in the festivities. As the night continues, the trinkets absorb all of the magic that is created through celebration and unity.
A couple of hours later, after the trinkets have made their way through the festivities, the Lunar fairy, who is the lead creative maker, sits with each of the ghosts and ghost fairies to find out what they want to be used for once they turn back into trinkets at the end of the night. The celebrations continue on as they talk to the Lunar Fairy.
Around 3:33am The Lunar fairy called for everyone’s attention. The creatures then cleared the dance floor enough to let the Lunar Fairy, ghosts, and ghost fairies through. As they all found their way to the center of the dance floor, the crowd waited in quiet anticipation. Lunar Fairy began:
“Good evening and happy moon to all of my fellow creatures of the forest. What an amazing night it’s been. Full of great fun, food, and laughter. The energy we have brought to our trinkets is perfect for passing on. After meeting with each of the ghosts and ghost fairies I have realized that overall, they all want the same thing, to bring joy and comfort to the beholder.”
To that the creatures cheered, and the ghosts and ghost fairies started to organize into groups on the dance floor. Lunar fairy continued on:
“The interesting thing with the trinkets is that they have been given four separate powers. The black trinkets have the power of protection. The orange ones have the power of creativity. The purple ones have the power of understanding, and the green ones have the power of growth.” The crowd cheered again and Lunar Fairy continued to wrap up her speech. “As the sun rises and the moon sets our new friends will go back to being trinkets, but this time they will be imbued with the magic of the moon and the love of our community. They will then be passed onto trick-or-treaters, fun-partakers and magic makers. There’s still some time before the sun rises. May the celebrations continue!!” At that the crowd cheered once more, the music started back up and the party raged on.
As the 7 o’clock hour tolled the creatures of the Darksome Forest said their final goodbyes and began to disperse. Lunar Fairy sat with all of the creative makers, and they watched as the sun rose and the light shone upon the ghosts and ghost fairies, turning them back into trinkets, but this time with a little more color and magic than there was when they were initially created.
Lunar fairy let out a satisfied breath, looked at her friend and said, “Now onto my favorite part.”
Her friend squinched up his face in confusion and replied, “The festivities and bringing our creations to life wasn’t?”
To that she smiled and said “I love that part, I look forward to it every year. BUT my favorite part is when I take our little magic creations and pass them on to the trick-or-treaters, fun-partakers and magic makers, because nothing tops bringing a little fun and joy to someone’s life.”
Her friend smiled in agreement, then they sat there a little while longer and watched how the light of the sun changed the forest as it brought in a new day. After that, the lunar fairy and all of the creative makers started to head home. Lunar fair trailed behind as she collected all of the trinkets and stuck them in her sack. As she picked up the last trinket, she dropped it in her sack took a quick look around at the beauty of the Celestial Glade and the Darksome Forest, breathed in the smells and smiled in anticipation of All Hallow’s Eve.
